Little Disciples, Not Little Vendors

Presented by Fr. Andrew Kemberling
Pastor, St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Denver, CO

Selling things turns children into little vendors. They put themselves at risk knocking on doors or setting up tables at unsecure locations all to raise money. Childhood labor largely benefits the companies, while a minimum goes to charity. There has to be a better way. "Children's Charity" is a Eucharistic-centered way for little disciples to bring their tithes and good deeds to the altar so more money is raised than would be by having fundraisers. The life lessons of charity, generosity, compassion, and caring are learned in the context of a parish family.

Presented by Leisa Anslinger
Co-Director at Catholic Life and Faith, Loveland, OH

“Stewardship is an expression of discipleship with the power to change how we understand and live out our lives." It is good for all of us, no matter our experience as stewardship leaders, to be reminded of the richness a spirituality of stewardship offers to people and to our parish. This session will provide an opportunity for us to explore the foundations of this spiritual way of life and its impact in our lives as disciples of Jesus Christ.

Presented by Deacon Bill Koniers
President, CathoNet LLC

Cloud computing is now beginning to transform how dioceses, parishes, and schools are managing the pastoral, financial, and educational mission of the Church.  Pastors especially are understanding and are embracing this new technology In order to enable parish decisions on a more timely basis. Parish leadership, both clergy and lay volunteers are beginning to enjoy the technological tools that are providing critical information that must be easily available on which to make informed decisions.  Parish and school administrators are now experiencing the ease of access and flow of information that will allow them to be more effective in making decisions on the important work of building the Kingdom of God in our real-time, fast-paced society.

Practical Ways to Promote Vocations

Presented by Fr. Andrew Kemberling
Pastor, St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Denver, CO

The harvest is abundant, but the laborers are few, pray therefore, the Lord of the Harvest to send out laborers into his harvest." Luke 10:2  Indeed, the laborers in God's vineyard are few, and we must pray unceasingly for more vocations to the priesthood or religious life. But there are also a number of practical ways to make it happen, such as seeing vocations as a human resource issue that needs to be addressed, and the need to counteract the media influence whose only concerns is the alternative lifestyle.
